In Loving Memory

Some Time In September

A Tribute

Fashion is nothing without muses. They inspire us and make us achieve more than we could ever imagine. My world would have been empty without the overwhelming power of my grandmother guiding my day after day. She will always continue to inspire me, anywhere, any time.
Fashion is anything that’s can be thought through the mind, seen by the eye, and worn by the body. Clothing provides a medium of expression, open to the whole world with no boundaries. Matters like race, size ,gender, sexuality ,or any other identifying qualities  only enhance the stories that the sewn fabrics tell. Through out time historians have strived to grasp major details in their studies on food, shelter, religion, politics and exploration but always make a pivotal section for clothing.

Historically Fashion has been able to inform researchers on, economics status, social class, accessible resources, art and culture. From Africa and the Egyptians to Alaska and the Eskimos, detail of time period, technology and advancement of human kind can all be found in the threads of that community.
The Ballroom  scene is a community I call my own; the people, the lifestyle, and the artistic proclamations have helped develop me as a person in multiple facets.

Teaching care, compassion, leadership abilities , defusing  and of course individualism.

Ballroom has tied in the outside world of fashion with the realistic struggles LGBTQ minority living.

This  underground “fantasy” world deserves to be documented just like all other communities with just as much respected as those kings and queens of London and Lebanon.

This is why I propose projects like “ US By US “ , Making planforms for educated professionals like myself the ability to not only hold history but share it to the outside in the most realistic, accurate and hands on view .

Marchin to April is a collection of shorts fashion films produced by creative director , Taliek Jeqon singletary. This short series acts as chapters in my autobiography.
